Patient safety & privacy

Careful by design. Never a guess.

A pharmacy phone line carries patient trust. Method Voice is built to protect it: HIPAA compliant, limited to what your pharmacy approves, and quick to hand off to a person.

Our commitments

Six principles behind every call.

HIPAA compliant

We sign a Business Associate Agreement with your pharmacy, and every vendor that handles patient information is under one too.

Confirm before sharing

No patient-specific information is shared until the caller is confirmed. Uncertain matches go to staff.

Minimum necessary

It collects only the details a request requires and says only what your pharmacy allows for that type of call.

Privacy restrictions honored

If a patient has limited who may receive their information, that restriction always applies.

Current information only

If status information isn't up to date, the assistant won't present it as fact. It routes the patient to staff.

Always a way to a person

Any caller can ask for a person at any time, and urgent concerns are transferred immediately.

Boundaries

What it will never do.

These boundaries are built into the system. They aren't left to the assistant's judgment.

Give medication, dosing, or side-effect advice → pharmacist
Discuss controlled-substance prescriptions → pharmacist
Guess when information is old, missing, or unclear → staff
List a patient's medications to a caller → never
Override a patient's privacy restriction → never
Take card or insurance numbers out loud → secure link or in person

You stay in control

Your pharmacist approves the rules.

Before launch

  • Your pharmacist reviews what the assistant can say for each type of call
  • You choose which calls go straight to staff
  • You set how patients are confirmed
  • You decide what's recorded and how long it's kept

After launch

  • Every call is reviewed during the pilot
  • Policy changes are approved before they take effect
  • Every version of your rules is kept for reference
  • A monthly report shows what was handled and transferred

For your compliance or IT contact

Patient information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to what each call requires and is logged. Retention follows the settings your pharmacy approves. We're happy to walk your team through our safeguards and BAA in detail.
